Transferring from Lehigh?

I am currently a freshman at Lehigh and I’m already thinking about transferring. I just feel like I don’t fit in here. Also, I planned on majoring in Chemical Engineering but am thinking of switching majors as well. I was thinking of going into a math-related field, leaning towards Statistics because I’ve started to realize that I just want to do math and like solving just math problems.

With that being said, I have looked into transferring to Temple University. One of the things about Lehigh that I don’t like is that I am stuck on this campus basically with nothing surrounding me. And since I don’t entertain myself by going to parties, I wanted to be near Philly. Lehigh wasn’t my first choice originally anyway(Villanova was my top choice but they gave me little financial aid). I thought about their Statistical Science program but did not how respected it was. I looked into becoming an Actuary but would need some advice as to what to major in and such in order to prepare for the exams, if that is the way I want to go.

However, would I be stupid leaving a top university in Lehigh for a place like Temple? Lehigh has given me a great deal in financial aid(going for <$10k my freshman year) so I don’t know if I should just walk away from that either. I don’t really have any friends here but I think I could manage another 3 years here if it was in the best interest for my career.

So what do you guys think? Should I transfer, or change my major, or both? I just need some input from others that may not be biased.

Thanks.

Anyone?

??

Give it much more than a few weeks before you decide to transfer- almost every freshman needs some time to get acclimated and so many need a semester or even two to feel like they really fit in and are comfortable. I wouldn’t do anything this first semester regarding transferring- spend this time meeting people, joining clubs and doing well in your classes. If you are still so unhappy next semester then start the transfer process. Best of luck!
