I’m a junior going into my 2nd semester at UIUC with a math degree, but I’ve been struggling with math classes since coming in and my major gpa is below 2.0 which is the graduation requirement. I still have 7 more to take including one I failed last semester so I have to take for grade replacement. I’m worried I won’t be able to stay in math and would prefer to transfer to Econ. I’ll still have to take 9 classes of Econ (3 a semester) in order to graduate on time with a BS, but I’m also worried about the job prospective. I don’t know how good the Econ program is at UIUC, but maybe it’s worth a shot since I could get a better GPA overall and I’d start from scratch. I’d like to go into data analyst or marketing work if possible, but knowing my GPA will most likely continue to go downhill as a math major seems like unlikely choice at this stage. Any thoughts?
