Hi everyone, I’m planning/starting my college transfer application right now. I’m from California, but I attend a private liberal arts college out of state. But due to personal and financial reasons, I want to transfer. But the CSU application is giving me so much confusion. I’m also studying abroad next semester (Spring 2016) and I don’t know how to translate that in my application. So:
1)When it states how many expected credits I would have prior entering a CSU should I include my credits that I will gain this semester? How do my credits from my overseas study translate? I’m currently a sophomore with a total of 37 credits, and each class I take has 4 credits and my overseas study will give me 16 credits.
2)I do not understand what the app wants in:credits to date versus credits attempted to date
3)How do I translate my college courses into CSU requirements. I know there’s those A1 classes that you need to take, but I took a Freshman Seminar class. Does that count?
4)Do I have to send an official transcript?
5)Since my school isn’t on their listserve and I had to enter it manually I fear that I have to contact a counselor. How easy is it to access and get help from a CSU admissions advisors?
Lastly: I formerly only applied to one CSU school before- does my old application still count?
This app is so confusing from the common app! Thanks for all you help!
There is no transfer advisor at your current school?

You include the class credits you are taking this Fall semester and the credits you expect to earn Spring semester. If you have 16 units in Spring for your study abroad, then enter these credits.
Will you have 60 units minimum by end of Spring Semester?
-
How many credits have your earned so far? How many credits did you take? If you withdrew or failed any classes then you will not get any credit. It is asking for you if you passed all your classes.

You need to try your best in figuring out which classes meet the CSU required classes by looking at the descriptions. You could try assist.org. Pick a CA community college and then look up the required courses from that CCC that articulate to the CSU of interest. Compare your classes with the classes listed in assist.org to see if they are close in description.

You do not send a transcript unless requested. You might also want to contact one of the CSU admission counselors that may be able to help you with your issues. Not sure how responsive they are.

Old CSU application is not valid, since I am assuming you originally applied as a Freshman not a transfer???
Here are the transfer application instructions. Your best course of action would be to contact CSU admissions since your classes and transfer are not so straight forward as from a California CCC or another CSU.
