Transferring from UC to UC?!

So I recently got rejected from my dream UC (UCI) but I was accepted to UCSC. Would it be smart/hard to transfer? I really want to move out and UCSC is my best option out of the other Unis I applied to. Thanks.

It would be harder to transfer from a 4 year to another 4 year. You would be better off saving money and going to community college and then transferring to uci

people do transfer from one UC to another. Generally, you need to be a Jr, have all the transfer pre-reqs complete and have slightly better stats than all of the CC applicants who get first priority.

I’d encourage you to go to UCSC and make the most of your experience there, don’t view it as a temporary stop, really engage with the campus and community. If, after 18 months you are still want to try UCI, you can certainly apply.

How likely would I get accepted to transfer after 18 months and what would I need?

You need to have all major reqs completed for your intended major at your target UCs. Go to assist.org, plug in any CCC and match courses. Then ideally you get your gen ed courses done for UCSC and get what is called a Letter of Recopricity. People transfer UC-UC all the time.

both of those used to have a option to filter by just UC applicants…for some reason it is no longer there.

If you have a high GPA and take the right courses, you have a good shot at transferring to UCI. The GPA threshold varies widely by major so, your odds of admission really depend on your field of study and academic performance.
