<p>It came very unexpectedly that I was not invited into NU's honors program, and was curious to know if anyone has experience with the transfer process. Is it competitive? Do you move into the honors dorms mid-year?</p>

<p>They are talking about transfering into the honors program, not the university (correct?). If you are, you need at least a 3.6 gpa to be considered and you can only apply up until the end of your second year. After that the honors program assumes you won’t be able to complete the required 6 honors classes (which is true). You can join the honors program after your first semester, but you can not move into the honors dorms. The honors program needs your first semester grades, which would only be available after you’ve already been placed in your spring housing (presumably the same one you had for the fall). Because of that, I’ve never heard of any second-semester honors admit being allowed to move in mid-year.</p>
