Hi, I’m an upcoming high school senior, and my plan is to attend community college for 2 years and then (if everything goes as planned) transfer into a top business school, Ross being one of my options.
My question is are there any community colleges that are somewhat favored by Ross, or have some kind of special agreement with Ross?
Also, what colleges definitely have the courses needed to meet Ross’s credit requirements for transfer students? I was considering Coffeyville CC, but I don’t know if the school has the right courses.
To anyone that can help me out, thanks very much.
You would need to transfer to ross after your freshman year
The Ross BBA is a 3 year program. It is very difficult to get admitted as a transfer (I think I remember 1% or less of the Ross class being transfer students). I think you best bet may be to do one year at CC, one year at UM, then apply to Ross.
Hi,
For your question about which classes would give you transferable credits, you can just look at the UM Transfer Credit Equivalencies online for what courses would give you credit at any other colleges in and around your area in Kansas. I did notice that Coffeyville CC was not on the list of colleges when I searched schools in Kansas, so you might want to directly contact Umich regarding that. The only CCs I found on the list were Allen CC: Iola, Butler CC: El Dorado, and Johnson CC: Overland Park.
Since you are a rising high school senior, I don’t see why you wouldn’t just apply through preferred admission to Ross as that is the primary and most guaranteed path of receiving admission to Ross. If it is due to cost, finishing off your gen ed courses at a local college would save you quite a bit. If not, I think applying to Umich LSA and preferred admission to Ross during early action would be the best bets. For transfer students for fall 2017, there were only approx. 25 spaces, so it is very highly competitive. If you know which business school you want to go to, be it Ross, Stern, Dyson, Teppers, or etc, if you know you want to go to a specific school, it may be better to apply directly instead of taking the CC route.
Ross is a three year program, so if you intend on attending CC for two years, expect an additional three years to graduate from Ross. Also, as others have pointed out, transferring into Ross from another college or university is next to impossible. The odds of getting into Ross are much better if you first transfer into LSA after one year in CC, and then transfer into Ross after one year in LSA…but even then, the odds are not good.
