Transferring out of Community College

Hey guys, my name is David and I am currently seeking to transfer out of my community college. Ideally, I would like to go to either Emory or Hamilton and want to know what my chances of getting into them are. At the moment I have taken 30 credits and have a 4.0 GPA. I have strong recommendations and a decent amount of extra-curricular’s and a great deal of community service. I also have a job and in high-school, I got a 29 on my ACT. Everything in my resume seems fine, but I am just worried that the fact I go to Community might scare some colleges away. But if I can’t get in, I still have a large list of other good schools I might try to get into instead.

If you have worked toward your potential at your CC – as you seem to have – your application would be appropriate for these highly selective schools. Good luck.

You seem like the ideal candidate, to be honest. Don’t feel “less valuable” because of your enrollment at a community college- your experiences have been different, circumstances in life led you there and you’re making the most of it, that’s what matters. Good luck, and make some killer essays!
