Hello I just finished my freshman year at Penn State University(schreyers honors college) majoring in economics and minoring in spanish and still have an undecided minor. I am going to apply to a few schools to transfer in as a junior. I have a large list of schools I am thinking about applying to but I am not going to apply to all of them. The schools are Upenn(CAS), Cornell(dyson), Johns Hopkins, Villanova, NYU, UC Berkeley, and Yale(just for a crapshoot not even close to expecting to get in).

Do you have a question (please don’t say Chances ;))?

that could possibly be it
I am trying to figure out where I stand thats all

Are you willing to pay full OOS tuition at Cal for two years?

You don’t say why you want to transfer, but looking at your list, I can hazard a guess.

Where you stand really depends on how willing you are to stay at Penn State and how much you’re willing/able to pay.

I am able to pay OOS tuition at Berkeley and am able to pay tuition pretty much anywhere. Also I am going to stay until the end of my Sophomore year.

Yes, I figured you’d attend soph year and apply for a jr transfer.

Sorry, I wasn’t clear, the part about willingness to stay at Penn State has to do with the colleges you choose to apply to. For example, if you really want out because PS isn’t the right school for you, then it will be important to have some match/safety schools on your list. But if it’s OK and you’re mainly interested in transferring ‘up’, then you can concentrate more on match/reach schools, as PS is your safety.

Well there are a few reasons why I would like to leave Penn State but I am not comfortable putting them on here. I would also like to transfer “up” because I feel an economics degree from a higher ranked school would have more “pull” in the job market than PSU’s economics degree. If I do not get into any of these schools I can always stay at PSU. Do you think I at least have a shot at Villanova because as of now that is my “safety” school.

Anyone have any thoughts?

bumping for thoughts
