Transferring OUT of UCR

Hey all, I’m a current freshman at UCR and I just finished up my first quarter with a 4.0. I don’t really like the surrounding environment at UCR and the rigor isn’t quite what I was expecting from a UC. I was looking at transferring to either UCLA or UCSD.

I was wondering if any intercampus transfers out of UCR have any advice to give (especially those who got into UCLA/UCSD/UCB). What school did you transfer into? What was your major/GPA/GEs/ECs? Why did you transfer? Are you happy with your decision?

You will have a much better chance leaving UCR and attending a CCC.

you do realize that you won’t be able to xfer until you are about to become a junior?

You can stay at UCR and most likely transfer, esp with such a high GPA. But as mikemac says, you can’t apply until next fall and need to finish your sophomore year at UCR. Whatever your major is, follow the requirements for the major at your NEW chosen UC (not UCR) on assist.org and try to complete all gen ed courses for UCR and get a letter of reciprocity that shows UCR gen ed completion. Berkeley might want the Letter of Reciprocity (not sure). Someone i know transferred UC-UC and got into Berkeley saying they had the L of R and then they were missing one class for it and Berkeley rescinded the offer. So better to be safe than sorry.

I want to do the exact opposite! What don’t you like about UCR?
