So I currently live in the Midwest, and I have heard that this will be somewhat, ever so slightly helpful in my college application endeavors. However, my father lives in Sacramento, CA, and due to family issues, I will most likely be moving in with him in January. However, I will have already sent in all of my college applications, test scores, and HS transcripts prior to transferring schools.

What does this mean for me? Theoretically, the schools would not know that I was moving until it came time to schedule an interview, (and midyear reports but that would be later I think) at which time I am afraid I might confuse their system. How do I explain this on an app, and how bad is this going to hurt me overall. Obviously, anybody applying to an Ivy out of California will have lost all hopes of any type of application boost based on geographic diversity. But what would they consider me when reviewing my application? When I have the interview I would have just moved there, and I would still have a guardian with partial custody in the Midwest. Plus, all of the info on my app would have been from the Midwest. Of course, I will have to give up some of the positions and teams that I hold here when I move...but would they be understanding?

I am so lost, and my guidance counselor has been zero help.

Any advice or information would be great. Thanks.
