Hi. I am just finishing up my junior year of high school and am unhappy. I currently go to a private school but have been remote all year and feel as if my family has been wasting so much money on me for such a mediocre education. I am thinking of transferring to my local public school. The thing I’m concerned about is how this will affect my college applications. I have already asked two teachers from my current school to write my recommendation letters as well as the guidance counselor. Do you think colleges will think it’s weird that I transferred my senior year, especially to a less rigorous school. The thing is that I am transferring because of social and mental reason, not because of academic difficulty. I can take most of the same courses at my intended new school so there shouldn’t be a drop in course rigor. However, since my school was Catholic, I was involved in a lot of service and religious clubs and activities. Since I won’t be able to continue that in a public school, what will colleges think of me regarding the activities part of my application? Also it will be hard for me to gain leadership positions in a new school senior year. What do you guys think?
