Transferring to a 4 year university while trying to get an AA degree

Hello, I want to transfer to a four year college in two years ie USC UC Berkeley POMONA etc.

How can I get an AA in global economics while still fulfilling an articulation agreement?
Does this mean taking more courses? I know that USC has an agreement with BCC, does this mean that I cannot get an AA if I want to transfer and follow the articulation agreements?

How will the AA degree correlate with the IGETC?

Do AA degrees good to colleges that I want to transfer to?

California has one of the best transfer systems I have ever heard of. Seriously. I am jealous of all of you folks over there :)

Shoot. All you have to do is read over the college catalogs carefully and then just e mail the transfer offices with your questions to be on the safe side. And then thank your lucky stars you live where things are so modernized with transfers :)

Wow thank you for the support!

If you complete the IGETC pattern and transfer to a UC, you are probably eligible for an AA, even if you’re missing something dumb like a PE class as long as you’ve taken the classes in that field. Try to find courses that count both toward the major or AA and toward your general ed requirements. Getting the AA won’t void the articulation agreement or something - you just have to make sure you’ve taken all the courses they want.

AA degrees certainly don’t look bad - how much they help is variable. Another question worth asking is what you’re majoring in once you transfer. If you’ll be majoring in the same thing for your BA, then getting the AA will be largely pointless, but if you’re majoring in something else, the AA could be a real advantage, since it shows breadth.
