Transferring to a less prestigious school?

Hey, I am a current freshmen enrolled at a top 20 business, the classes are great, but I am not enjoying my experience here too much. I have some solid friends but they joined frats and I couldn’t, and there not like my friends back home. I was thinking of transferring to Seton Hall University in NJ, which is close to home and where some friends are, but my concern is its academics. It’s the 78th ranked business and doesn’t have the best reputation, but they do have some good internship opportunities. My thing is my current school I feel like would set me up pretty well but I would enjoy Seton Hall more, but at the same time if I do transfer I feel like I would be wasting a great opportunity, and would be letting myself and my parents down. Financially transferring would most likely allow me to not be in debt as well, but again I feel like I might be sacrificing a great opportunity.

Thanks so much.

Hi, not going to be of much help since I’m just a student as well, but I thought I would just let you know that you’re not alone in that thought and you shouldn’t feel weird about it. I’m also looking to transfer to a school “of a lower rank,” but as the advice out there will tell you, if you truly believe that going somewhere else will help you achieve your goals in life, by all means do it. Don’t slave away for a diploma with a brand name; if you end up at a school where you make better connections with students and professors (both socially and professionally), you’ll be doing yourself an enormous favor.
