Transferring to a US university from UK university after 1 year

Hello guys, I am currently studying at one of the best universities in the uk and certainly the best for my course. However, I am planning to move to the US as I have recently attended Soccer trials for FirstPoint USA which offers full scholarships for student atheletes at usa universities, I was selected from the trial and now I have interview to discuss my academic stuff.

Due to me being an international student, I have done an equivalent course similar to A-levels taken in high schools in UK called a Foundation course which covers all modules taken at A levels at a recognized university in uk and I got 3 As

Now I am hoping to transfer after my first year and also looking to go to some top universities, not necessarily Ivy League but just the category below it such as UCLA or Berkeley and such.

What are my chances? I am very excited cuz I get to not pay anything if I go to USA so would u say I can be transferred to 2nd year of us uni or 3rd year considering that one year in uk uni is worth 2 years in us?

Many thanks!

Foundation = first year but not all credits transfer, there’ll be an examination class by class to see what you need to take. In particular the UK is very specialized so you’ll likely be required to take distribution requirement classes but may be able to take second or third year classes in your major.
What American universities have expressed interest?
What course are you studying?

Also, some colleges would give credit for A-Levels. But you’d still likely need over 3 years.

I am surprised a Division 1 coach would be willing to take a player (and scholarship spot) for potentially only a 2 year player, unless they had a particular need. But congratulations!

Foundation = kid can play all 4 years.

@Happy4u, if the talent is good enough, they’d expend energy recruiting a player for only one year.

Look at the one-and-dones in basketball or graduate transfers in football and basketball.

Each college and university here determines for itself which courses transfer, and as what. It is entirely possible (although unlikely) that you would be admitted as a transfer student but have none of your courses accepted for any kind of credit. You need to ask each place how they will handle your A level results and your foundation year coursework. Do not be surprised if they can only give you a rough estimate, or if they can’t give you any answer at all until you have enrolled. Both of those situations are quite common.

Bring the syllabus for every course you have taken so the college can figure out if the credits transfer.

Check the websites of the colleges/universities on your list, and see what they require for formal evaluation of foreign academic records. That should be in the information for international applicants. I have not learned of any college or university that will not accept evaluations by https://www.wes.org/ so that usually is a good place to get this done.
