Hello, just completed first semester at truman state uni, attending CC in the spring, and plan to transfer to Univ. of Illinois or Univ. of Minn in the fall.
3.35 College Gpa
Microeconomics - A
Macroeconomics - A
Public Speaking - B
College algebra/trig - B
American Government - B

Taking Calc I, and stats along with other gen eds next semester.
Planning on taking Calc 2 over the summer, along with 1 or 2 other classes.

High school record is mediocre, only a 3.2 gpa w/ 2 AP's. Plan on retaking the SAT in January. I was denied admission into U of Illinois for fall 2012 as a freshman, if that matters.

I applied to transfer into ACES: Agricultural & consumer economics for U of Illinois (I will have met all the requirements except accounting for junior level transfer according to the handbook by time of enrollment)
and College of Liberal arts: Economics for U of Minn.

Any advice anyone? I contacted an admission counselor and all she said is that I was competitive for admission. I saw this on a university of Illinois official blog:
You do not need to be a straight-A student to be admitted to Illinois. (Well, it helps for the College of Business, but most majors are not competitive. For most majors, if you meet the GPA guidelines and complete the required coursework and you will be admitted.)

^^^^ That really calms me down a bit. I plan on transferring here for fall into the Political Science program. I got a 3.0 gpa after my first semster at CC (I got a little too comfortable with finals, straight B’s yikes) and was very unsure I would be accepted. However, the minimum gpa for acceptance into political science is a 2.7.
