How difficult is it to be accepted as a transfer to American University (Washington D.C.)? I want to transfer fall 2011, (freshman transferring for sophomore year +) from DePaul University in Chicago. Since it is the first semester, I don't have an official gpa calculation but based on grades I have received I am thinking it is 3.4+. My high school gpa was abysmal, but I had average SATs and lots of AP classes taken, along with a lot of extracurriculars which I have continued into college (model united nations officer, black student union, political internships, key club officer, etc.). Also, my dad attended American back in the 70s, so I am a legacy. On the AU website, it says that the application deadline is July 1st, but to be considered for scholarships I have to turn in my application by March 1st. I was wondering (since I dont have the 3.7+ to get a scholarship) if it would be a good idea for me to wait until my school year is over (June 10th) to send in my transcript because then I would have 3 full quarters worth of grades to send in to admissions rather than 1. Is that a good idea?

What could I do to strengthen my chances for admission and how much are HS grades taken into consideration when transferring?

My apologies if this is a repeat post, I looked through and didnt see any having to do with this.
