Transferring to other school from ucb

Anyone had success in it?
Although i am unsure whether or not i will want to transfer in the next couple of years, i am considering it. Anyone have any success on transferring to different school?

Basically, i am considering schools above berkeley in academics.

What’s wrong with Cal? Ashamed it’s not up there on the US News rankings?

No need to get so defensive. Some of us would just prefer a smaller school, a different atmosphere, less of this bureaucratic bullcrap, whatever. I’ve been thinking about applying for transfer admissions lately too, and there’s a few posts on the transfer board on leaving Cal (usually accompanied by posts like blueducky’s). So far, I’ve found few stats and specific info on transferring out of Berkeley and I rather doubt Berkeley has an office specializing in advice for people who want to leave.

Did a quick search…

In my books, blueducky’s response is correct, and you might have serious trouble arguing otherwise.

Note that the poster here asked not for a smaller school, but one “above Berkeley in academics” – which really doesn’t even exist. There are schools whose academics enjoy different plus points, but that’s about it.

i am looking into private schools that are smaller in size accompanied by heavy emphasis on academics. I just didn’t want to name the institutions since some of you would write hate posts on the comment.

It’s not being defensive, it’s the truth. For a lot of departments, Berkeley is right up there. If anything, OP you’re the one being defensive, you never even stated that you wanted a smaller setting until another poster has pointed it out. You said “above Berkeley in academics”… is Berkeley not academically oriented enough for you? You’ve tapped into all the resources Berkeley can offer academically already? You want a better name, and you know it. It’s not that I hate you for wanting it (it’s justified, really), it’s your inability to admit what you want that provoked my first comment.

Good luck to you.

This is a legitimate goal, and most people I talk to speak highly of various good schools around here. What would invite hate posts is making incredibly vague description like “academically above” for a school with a sweeping amount of academics that are world class.

If you really want advice on various schools and transfer processes, you should be very specific as to your intentions and desires out of the different school, your major of choice, etc. I’m sure your background will impact the potential to transfer.

Further, this discussion would be useful to you if you’re still undecided as to transferring in the first place, which you say you are.
