Transferring to Smith, too far a reach?

Hi!
I graduated high school in 2014 and went to school in NYC. I spent about 1.5-2 years in NYC before I became severely depressed and had to drop out. My grades were suffering horribly. I waited half a year before I enrolled in my local community college, where I still wasn’t ready to go back to school, so my grades suffered even more horribly. I took a year off, got some lifesaving treatment, and returned to CC. Since late 2018, all A’s for a pretty good stretch, then a couple B’s and one C in a forensics class. I’m 24 years old, perfect age for the Ada program.

I decided this year to apply to Smith, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke, UMass, and Emerson. Smith is my parents’ top choice, especially since my mom was an Ada Comstock Scholar who graduated last year. It’s also one of, if not the, top choice of mine as well.

My GPA is on the low side from all of my chaos, but is in the 3 range! I did an in-person interview that I thought went very well. I do not need any financial aid, listed all my honors/awards/publications.

I’m not asking you to chance me…but I’m asking you to chance me. Lol.

I have a couple GLOWING recommendations from teachers and mentors at my current school. I wrote an essay that explained and touched on the problems I’ve faced since I began college, and how they’ve changed me, but I still cringe at the thought of that C showing up there to negate it all. However, I’m aware Smith has a holistic approach to the application. I also explained some of this briefly in my interview. My fall 2019 GPA was 3.069, cumulative.

What do my chances look like? I’m being alerted electronically on March 24 about my decision.

I am only applying for undergrad, so take my advice with a grain of salt. But if you aren’t applying for financial aid I think you have a solid chance.

Ada decisions went out yesterday. Did you get in @maxsjourney ??
