Would it be possible to transfer from a community college to Smith? What do you think I could do to improve my chances?

Look at the Ada Comstock Scholars program. I think that having a high GPA is the key.

Every year, traditinal aged students (not the Ada program) transfer to Smith from CC. What do you need - - strong gpa (ECs, etc. don’t really matter for transfer admission)

My lovely D transferred to Smith from CUNY Brooklyn/Macaulay Honors.

So yes you certainly have a chance - give it a shot :)

As a student who is currently in the transfer process, I’d like to know how much weight Smith gives to GPAs of transfer students. Any insight?

For transfers, GPA >>> test scores, recs. Your grades show what you’ve done on a college level; if it’s a less demanding college than Smith, I suspect that’s taken into account.

As to specific cut-off ranges, I haven’t a clue.

What about a transfer coming from a university known for grade deflation?

They should have a sense of what your university is like, just as they know that not all high schools are created equal. They will most likely factor that into evaluating your GPA. But your GPA will remain an important part of your assessment.
