Transferring to The College of The Holy Cross

Hey everyone! I’m a second semester student at Merrimack College and I hold a 3.9 GPA throughout my 3 semesters here as a health science major (I want to be a physician assistant). I’m very homesick and want to transfer and would love to be able to stay at home and commute while doing so. I really want to transfer to The College of The Holy Cross in Worcester Ma, since it’s a highly prestigious school and is only10 minutes away so commuting would be a breeze.
I wasn’t a very good high school student and thats my problem. I was decent and showed improvement throughout high school, but I was average at best. So I went to Merrimack College and I’ve done extremely well here and I’ve applied myself. I just don’t want to stay here anymore.
What are my chances of getting into Holy Cross (my DREAM school)? Heres my college stats:

  1. 3.9 GPA (Health Science Major) - All A’s in every class except 1 b+ (throughout 3 semesters.
  2. I tutored anatomy my 1st semester freshman year after a request from a professor.
  3. One semester I spent helping after school math and science programs for middle schoolers
  4. The other semester I spent volunteering at IMEC (a medical supply packing company)
  5. I plan on helping with the after school program again this semester.

I know I could get AWESOME recommendation letters since I’m very close with a few professors.
Holy cross doesn’t require SAT/ACT scores so I wouldn’t submit those. Do you think my success in my first 3 semesters here will help me be granted admission despite my average high school career?

sorry the beginning is a little confusing…I’m a second semester sophomore, so Ive completed 3 semesters and Im currently in my 4th semester!

Do you have to submit your high school transcript at all?

Yes they want you to, I just don’t know how much of a factor it is

Holy Cross is several notches above Merrimack in terms of academics so getting As at Merrimack with less competitive students will not be as impressive as if you were getting them at a school of comparable academics. HC may be concerned how you will be able to compete at a higher level with top students and will be looking for some indicators that you can make the grade.

I fully agree with post #4, which is why your failure to submit SAT/ACT results could be a substantial deficiency (even if Holy Cross does not require these scores).
