Transferring to U of Iowa as Freshmen?

I just applied to transfer from a university in Illinois to Iowa for this upcoming spring semester. I have all A's and B's in college right now but I know that is not factored into admission yet b/c they aren't finalized yet. I do have some college credit from High School however. AP US History: 4, then I took both dual enrollment speech and economics which both transfer to Iowa. I did good in both dual enrollment classes.

In high school I was top 50% and my gpa was just under a 3.0 and my act was a 25.
Whats going to hurt me is my class ranking which is poor (94/201) due to bad freshmen and sophomore years.

I am a Political Science major.

What do you guys think?

I think the bars at Illinois are 19 years old and Iowa the law just got passed for 21 years old. Plus Illinois is much more of a prestigious school than Iowa, stay at UIUC

I think OP is not transferring from UIUC (indicated a university in Illinois).

I think OP was asking about the chances to be accepted at Iowa. With the rank and ACT score you indicated, you should calculate your RAI score, and if you are below the OOS threshold, you can apply for special review. This involves an essay, and I believe you can submit letters of recommendation – instructions are on the application.

I am not sure what impact your current classes will have – I think with less than 30 hours, you may be considered a freshman, not a transfer (consistent w/your message). You should submit those grades as soon as they are final. Perhaps even wait to apply until those grades are available, or send as soon as you get them.

Good Luck!
