Transferring to UConn Storrs as an incoming sophomore

Hi,

I am currently looking into transferring to UConn Storrs with the intent of majoring in Finance. I understand that UConn is one of the more competitive public schools in the country. After 1 year (2 semesters) at my current school I feel that I want to transfer to a different school, and as a connecticut resident, UConn was a viable option because it is very affordable for in state students. After 2 semesters (28 Credit Hours) I have a 4.0/4.0 GPA including 2 accounting classes, a business law class, a management class and a marketing class along with a few other general ed classes. They will require me to send in my high school transcript 3.65/5 GPA. Gladly for me they will not require me to send in my SAT score which I feel has hindered my application in the past. I tried to get in our of high school with a 3.65 and a 1650 (3 part) SAT and was rejected from Storrs.

Also, since I made my decision to transfer later in the year, I missed the transfer deadline for the fall term in 2013 so I will be applying for the spring semester in 2014 and would like to know if taking a semester off from school and working would hurt my application. I would take the fall 2013 semester off from school to work and resume school in the spring semester of 2014.

What are my chances of getting in? I feel that with a 4.0 GPA through 28 Credit Hours is a pretty strong GPA and shouldn't have a problem getting in but I have been rejected in the past.

Thank you for any input!
