anyone transferring to UF for the fall 2006 term? i was wondering if anyone knew when decisions are supposed to go out for transfers. thanks

Where are you transferring from?

what's your major?

My college GPA is a 4.0 and am transferring from a local university in New Jersey. I will be transferring with 30 credits for sophomore standing. The major I applied for was Information/Computer Science in Business. I plan on switching that though if I am accepted.

I was accepted by the University of Maryland - CP but would love to go to UF so I am hoping I'm accepted. I'll have to keep my fingers crossed.

btw - I applied for Comp/Info Sci in Business because I have a strong background in that area. I've heard mixed reviews about Warrington so I'm not sure if that was a good or bad decision. (Applying to Warrington)

My s's girlfriend is transferring from Tulane. She spent last fall at Rice and is back in NO now. Tulane is dropping her major and she has to change. She went to UF in the fall to see if she could transfer then and they told her they didn't have any room in her major for freshmen or sophmores and that she needed to take specific classes to transfer as a junior. She has done this and we are keeping our fingers crossed that she gets in. A friend of hers (freshman) in engineering has already been rejected and heard last week.

well i haven't been rejected yet. that's a good sign i guess

What major is she planning to do?

She hasn't either, and we are taking it as a good sign too. Fingers crossed for her and you too. She is planning on majoring in exercise science.

any idea when letters go out?

I don't know, but the anxiety is killing my son's gf and my s! I hope soon! She also applied to FSU and Miami and hasn't heard from them either.

haha im dying over here from anticipation. i just pray that i am admitted :)

Sublime, just an update, my S talked to his honor's advisor because his gf hasn't heard yet about UF. She said that the first thing admissions does is notify all who are definitely not getting in because of their stats, etc., then the schools that you have applied to, ie business, engineering, etc., get your application and make decisions based on space. She said that his gf might not hear for another few weeks!!! She did get her acceptance from U Miami a couple of days ago, so our fingers are still crossed for UF. Good luck, keep the faith!

sigh I'm in the same boat. I'm STILL waiting for my acceptance notification from UF. I'm in a bit of a pickle though, because I've been accepted to FSU yet I need to let them know if I'm going by May 1st. I'm completely lost as to what to do.

admission rates for undergrad and transfer students has obviously gotten more strict at UF. Many people have been rejected than ever before, even well qualified candidates. Does anyone know how many prospective freshmen have been placed on the waitlist this year and the approximate percentage of those tht will be accepted?

Thank you and good luck...

I think 600 were waitlisted. A waitlisted senior at the high in which I work was told by UF admissions not to expect getting in :-( I hope some on the waitlist get in, though!

Transfer students do not get waitlisted... Incoming freshmen do. My roomate, his gf, and I all received our acceptance notification (online) in March. It takes about three weeks after the deadline to get a notification - although the time does very. One acceptance came in two weeks, the next came a week later - and the third one took nearly 4 weeks.

Give us an update on how it goes for your son. oh... the common data set says about 5400 people applied for transfer and just under 2000 actual transfer - so around 40% for actual attending transfer students...

What schools did ya'll apply to? My son's gf applied to arts and sciences. She was there last weekend and they told her that her decision would come no later than the second week of May!!! She had to put a deposit down on a place to live by May 1. Her dad said no way, not without knowing the results. She may be staying at Tulane and changing majors if it doesn't work out. I hope she doesn't think she will be living with my son if it does ;)

All three of us applied to CLAS. They applied for Chemistry, and I applied for biology. I am pretty sure we are all switching to Biochem at orientation in June. I hope all goes well with your son and his gf. Tell her not to worry about down payments on housing. There are plenty of places to live in Gainsville after May 1st (as long as you dont want to stay in the dorms).
