Hi all, I am currently a freshman in engineering at Penn State. Although its only been 4 days i really do love it here at Penn state, there seems to be some monetary issues in my family. So im planning to apply for transfer at the end of this year (which would get me into spring semester at UMD i think) How hard is it to transfer into the UMD engineering school? How well would I have to do in class this year? the way the UMD website has it written it seems like everyone will get in as long as they have such and such (as noted on here) Undergraduate Advising: Transfer Admission | A. James Clark School of Engineering

much appreciated!

I would contact the pre-transfer adviser. I would make sure your current classes at Penn State do satisfy the requirements to transfer. Did you get into UMD but decide to go to Penn State? Although a 3.0 is not crazy hard to get, it can be for some people.

I would start the process now. I do remember the Engineering school is always hard to gain admission.

No I didnt get into UMD because I think i was dumb and applied for something harder than I should have with my GPA… Im aiming for at least above a 3.0 because I think I really need to do this… Im not sure if the transfer advisors would be annoyed at me because school virtually just started so i might just wait a bit. I did look at everything I need to do and for the most part I am on track to take all the courses UMD requires to have people transfer into its engineering school. Also UMD’s transfer FAq is very confusing as the wording almost makes it seem like if I get above a certain grade and a few specific courses… I will make it into the engineering school 100%
