Hey...I'm currently a freshman at a college in the northeast. My family has moved from CT to NC over the summer. While I'm trying to adjust to the distance, I do miss being closer to my family. Any suggestions or thoughts from anyone who's a recent transfer to UNC? I guess I "technically" am not a resident of NC, as you have to be a resident for 1 yr. to qualify. I know it's tougher to get in if you're out of state. Has anyone made the transfer move to UNC? Thanks so much......

North Carolina law states that a certain percentage of freshman adm must be in state. However this does not apply to transfer students. I know this from exp as well as from research. I was all set to go, I had my classes picked and I even had my books but an unscheduled trip to Iraq detoured my plans. If you get accepted and go to the transfer orientation you'll notice that a large number are from out of state. But you don't have to take my word for it. You to the admissions page and then to the transfer section. Under the FAQs it says that residency has nothing to do with admissions for out of staters, it only effects tuition.

Thanks, mokc. I appreciate the info.. I will check out the website. Best of luck to you!
