Transferring to Wharton

I'm not a UPenn prefrosh but i'm looking at transferring to Wharton in my sophomore year. What should I keep in mind in my freshman year beside getting an A+ GPA?

There are a lot of threads on this which you can find if you do a search. It is almost entirely GPA driven. Just be sure you really want to do that. See posts by legendofmax or send him a PM for his thoughts and advice.

The OP is asking about external transfer into Wharton which--unlike internal transfer--is not almost entirely GPA driven. It is more akin to the regular freshman admission process:

Oops- sorry. Misread it.

Just don't let it happen again. :p

45 percenter, thx for the links. but i'm looking for stuff besides the requirements. What I'm saying is beside completing the requirements with a rigorous GPA, does extracurriculars come in play or it is really not transfer admission officers looking for.. since you also said external transfer is a lot like freshman admission

Yeah, they first check to see if you would have gotten in as a freshman, and then they see if the same trends have basically carried over into college. And then this is all constrained by available seats.

If you didn't get in the first time, would it hurt your chances for transferring?

Doesn't hurt to try, especially if you've really done well in your current college. But if you were rejected the first time, it's probably on record, but meh. You never know

The documents to which I linked specifically address this question. For example:

In addition to the academic requirements, all applicants should have demonstrated leadership skills through involvement in their current college community.

We give careful consideration to academic preparation and achievement, and all candidates for admission will be expected to have demonstrated rigor in their undergraduate curriculum at their previous institution. However, in accordance with our desire to maintain diversity of background, intellectual interests, and accomplishments within the student body, the committee pays close attention to all aspects of the application for admission.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to accomplish this within one year?
