Well, i can send you the acceptance letter if you want, and it has 4 letter word that match my screenname so you will know its me.

Um, i was not going to go to amherst knowing the fact that i would stay an extra year when i know schools like ucla will take all my units and i would graduate on time. Amherst is just a school...and its not even known in the west. So why would i waste my time?

You have brought up a very interesting point that I imagine many students at small but well-respected institutions have had to deal with. Amherst is a great school, and you are obviously taking advantage of what it has to offer (academically, as demonstrated by your impressive stats). You are not wrong in worrying that Amherst's name will not be recognized as widely as Yale's. I am curious why you have picked Yale as opposed to Harvard if you motivated by prestige. Yale is certainly well known, but your stats lead me to believe that you would have a decent shot at transferring to Harvard as well. From my experience, Harvard has the best name recognition outside the US. For people who are at all familiar with American universities, Yale is just as well known as Harvard, but at that point, people also recognize Princeton, UPenn, Stanford and maybe even Amherst.

Another poster brought up a good point about graduate school. You will probably get a better education and certainly more genuine recommendations from a school like Amherst than you will from a University. Unless you are interested in an undergrad business or other pre-professional track, it seems as though you will be just as well off at Amherst.

lol mojo's reason is actually valid

I'd choose cal over harvard any day since I'd have to stay an extra year at harvard to graduat

I don't see why it matters. The opportunities Harvard and Amherst give far suprpass anything a school in California (except STanford and the Claremont schools) could give.

Heck, given the wonderful atmospheres of Harvard and Amherst, I would love to do an extra year. In fact, I would be looking for an excuse to do an extra year.

nsped, you also have to consider that flying to amherst is expensive...while staying in cali is much cheaper for me. Plus, anyone on these boards could tell you that it doesnt matter what school you go to. What matters is what you do with yourself...

Or NYU or going straight into entertainment. "Entertainment" is a very broad category. Many of the big names in enterainment had traditional (not entertainment-specific) educations or no higher education at all.
