I’m a provisional admit as a returning transfer to Cal Poly Pomona from Mt. SAC. I was checking out the catalog and noticed that for some reason College Algebra (MAT 105) doesn’t seem to fulfill the Math GE requirement, but Trigonometry (MAT 106) does. Did anyone successfully transfer in with College Algebra as their highest math or as one of their Golden Four without any problems getting the UGRD Clear after Prov Admit? Did they accept you still, but make you take a higher math to clear the math GE requirement later on, or did they clear admit you AND give you the credit for area B4, or did they deny you?

I tried finding info on this, but nothing really came up. The admissions page just says a “college level math” class is needed for transfer admission. I just hope they give me the UGRD Clear for my College Algebra.

Hi! I too transferred to Cal Poly from Mt SAC. My highest level math was Math 130 (college level algebra) and I got in just fine. Admissions did not require me to do or take anything else as it fulfilled the requirement perfectly. Hope this helps.

Thanks! This definitely does help. I was just a little worried that they wouldn’t accept my Math 130 and rescind me, which would be pretty sucky, haha. To find out that they took your Math 130 for the requirement is a relief for me. When did you transfer?

Glad it helped, I mean it’s such a large forum and what are the chances a fellow Mt. SAC transfer with the same issue will come along right?! Haha. I was accepted 2 months ago. Will you be staying on campus or commuting?

I live in Chino Hills, so I’ll be commuting Btw, how long did it take for them to clear admit you? I got the provisional admit on June 5 and my to-do list cleared last Wednesday, so hopefully they can give me the “clear after prov admit” soon, like this week or something, but that’s wishful thinking.

It took them about 2 months to clear me out but it felt like a year! Oh Chino Hills? That’s pretty close, you are gonna save a lot of money on gas that’s for sure. As for me I am dorming at the CPP village!
