Transferring withing UVA

I got into SEAS as a Rodman scholar, but I'm not sure about engineering anymore. I want to transfer to the McIntire School of Commerce. Does anyone know if transferring from Engineering to McIntire before college starts in the fall is possible?

The people who actually go to UVA will know more than me, but I'm pretty sure you don't actually go to the McEntire School of Commerce until your Third Year. You can sort of go in that direction, with the goal of going there your third year, but you can't "Get in" freshman year.

thanks for the reply...that's interesting since I thought people just applied to McIntire like they would for CAS or SEAS

You apply in the second semester of your second year to enter Mcintire. There are a number of prerequisites, most of which you have not completed if you have followed the standard Engineering curriculum.

I would recommend looking at their website...

You can't transfer directly to the Comm School as a first year. You apply while you're a second year for the comm programs. So, most people start out in the College and then apply for Comm school later on.
As far as SEAS to Comm goes, I know people who are doing a double major in SystemsE and then a comm major. So, there are obviously ways to work in the pre-reqs for the comm school, but it's tricky, especially in more rigorous majors like MechE, EE, etc.
If you want to transfer to the College, I don't know if you can before you enter in the fall. I would contact the E-school dept and ask them. Also, you might want to give the e-school a chance, especially since you're Rodman. I know you CANNOT transfer between schools between fall and spring semester, but if you hate it after first semester, I know that you can simply just not register for e-school classes and instead take all College classes (I knew two people who did this last year).

thanks a lot...all of ur responses really cleared up the issue for me!
