transfer

i was accepted to engineering school, but i am not planning to do engineering anymore. I want to to information systems in business school. I am an undecided major at vt. now my question is, can i ask admissions office to transfer me to arts and science school? if yes, what will happen if I take all business classes next semester, but I dont get into commerce school? Is it better that I stay at my current school and continue studying here for atleast another year and I apply again? Also, My goal is definitely to go UVA's darden school for MBA. will it hurt if I dont go to UVA for undergrad or does it help atleast? Thanks.

If you want to go to Darden, you need to get a good job out of undergrad and do well in that job. UVA is FAR better than VT in job placement, particularly in the business world. If you want to go to Darden, then graduating from UVA would set you on a better path. I don't have McIntire placement stats - maybe Untilted can post them? He seems to know more about these things than I do. I'm not sure about transferring from the e-school to the college. You should contact the office of admissions about that and let them know of your intention to apply to McIntire.

transferring from e-school to college from what i understand is fairly painless/easy. at the beginning of first year i had 6 engineers on my hall. when i finished first year there were 2.

Contact the admissions office - they may accomodate you assuming you explain yourself well. If not, you'll be able to transfer at the end of your 1st year (college doesn't do mid-year within university transfers) so in that case you'd just schedule college classes anyways but be subject to SEAS policies (e.g. drop date is about three months into the semester and not two weeks) untill you transfer.
