Hi! I’m , as my username indicates, lol, hoping to transfer to Ithaca for MT next year as a member of the class of 2015. I’m a first year right now at a public university. While I do like it there, I just can’t shake my dreams of attending Ithaca or NYU. Is it even reasonable to apply - does NYU commonly take transfers? I know NYU typically gives rather dreadful financial aid - would it be even worse for a transfer student or about the same? Also, what should I be doing this year to prepare for these auditions? Over the summer, should I attend a camp like BTP or BAA? Or should I spend it doing shows? I’ve already decided on my audition song choices - one is legit, one is belty. Any advice? I really am not ready to let go of this dream yet and want to be very prepared.

Some recent posts by college reps suggest (to me) that getting more good training at this point is better than doing more shows (at least, non pro shows) as good prep for auditions. Best wishes!

I agree with getting more training. My daughter went to Arts Edge workshop for 2 weeks and that is run by people who were all admission counselors for performing arts college programs. They helped my daughter with monologue selection and song selection and she got into NYU…good luck…
