Does anyone know how hard it is to transfer into a school like Duke or the ivies? How many do they take per year? Is it usually just community college students or normal students too? What are the requirements? Do u still get ur high school teachers to write your recommendation?
- Not to be rude, but you can find most of this information with a simple google search.
- it is very difficult to transfer into top institutions (even harder than applying in high school). How many they take per year varies. Both community college and normal students go there. Requirements vary from school to school (see their websites) but usually involves an excellent reason to transfer, high grades, good test scores (but the further away from high school you are the less your high school gpa and SAT/ACT matters and the more what you did in college matters.
And no, your high school teachers do not write recommendations again (unless for some god forsaken reason a school asks for it [which they will not]), instead your current college professors write some.
Additionally you might need a midterm report and a college report, and other paperwork depending on the school.
Again, you can fairly easily find this with a google search, or by going on each school’s website.
@HopefulCollege95 Thank u! My main reason of concern is the “excellent reason to transfer”
One of my friends is going to a great school (BU) but wants to transfer into the ivies and BU was sort of his safety. So I feel like unless you’re transferring from community college (and u have a story abut how you couldn’t afford to go to school or u had to help out ur family), no one is going to believe that just wanting to go to a better school is a valid reason? What happens to people who just go to normal colleges but want better colleges after?
