transitioning from homeschool to public high school

Anyone here transitioning from homeschool to public high school? My D (hs class of 2016) started ps in 9th grade and now S1 (hs class of 2018) hopes to do the same. I still have S2 hs class of 2020 at home. The dynamics are going to be very different this year...

YES! I’m so happy I found this because I’ve been looking for someone in the same situation as me. I attended public school from kindergarten until 8th grade, at which point I started homeschooling. Now I’m a junior (still homeschooling) but I’m going back to public school for my senior year.

But as a parent, you get 6+ hours per day without the kids home so its quite relaxing:) My mother informed me of this after she realized that I would ALWAYS be home.

I’ll still have my youngest home for at least 2 more years:-)

Wow! going back for senior year, it would be very difficult to do that in our area. Here you would have to provide an official transcript from an accredited school for your transfer credits, that even applies to private schools if they aren’t accredited or you would have to take the credit by exam test one for every semester of every transfer credit so most kids around here, if they are going to go to public school at all, do it in 9th grade.

At least you have had some public school experience. My oldest was a bit confused about the lunch room at first. She had never gone through a cafeteria line before and wasn’t sure where to sit. She was thrilled to find out that the school had a library and she could check out books whenever she wanted with out waiting for me to take her to the library.

Our biggest problem is the social thing. Both my older kids had lots of homeschool friends and they are still friendly with them when they see them alone but if they are in a group with multiple home school kids they pretty much treat my kids like dirt. Funny thing is I was always worried about the how the ps kids would treat my kids (which hasn’t been an issue at all) I never thought about that their home school friends would treat them differently when they started public school.

Just commenting on this for notifications. Went to public school kindergarten - 8th and then started virtual school in 9th. Completed 9th and 10th and now heading into 11th grade with virtual school. Thinking about going back 12th grade but don’t know if it will be too hard to transition back into it.
