Transitioning into Carleton from an IB school

Hi all!

I was wondering if anyone can give me any insight on the transition from the IB experience into college. As IB is very rigorous, I heard that transitioning into freshman year will not be as difficult. Is this true?

Thanks!

when we visited Carleton last year, i asked the admissions office this, and they believed the IB dip can’s are very well prepared for Carleton. She didn’t say it, but I have a feeling it’s better prep for an LAC than just AP’s…

Both my sons finished an IB diploma and they had an easier time with writing in particular in college. But they also had good math preparation too, and both did not attend an LAC. IB is really very good preparation because its very broad and also asks students to think about solving problems beyond the homework sets and textbook, just like colleges do.

My school(a very competitive school in China with an IB average of 42) continuously sends students to Carleton. Asking previous IB students, they say transition will be time consuming, but relatively smooth if you work hard. They say you still need a lot of effort to get a 3.8+, but certainly doable.
