Maybe this will help:

I am afraid I can't help as far as getting from the bus depot to one of the stops on the transit line, but that should not be too difficult.

triangle transit authority may also help. you can put in the address and teh desired destination of chapel hill. you can use a dorm address if you want... like 101 raleigh st, chapel hill, nc 27514
very cheap and in general efficient.
When are you going? You do realize classes end very soon and exams start the 28th?

The address above is to one of the pages on the Triangle Transit Authority site, but it does not seem to work now for some reason. You might start at

TTA - Bus Shuttle

Being a 15-year resident of central NC but hometown is Baltimore - the public transportation in NC is not nearly as efficient or 'truly usable' as in Maryland. Although some 'cross town' and 'cross campus' (Duke, Carolina, NCState) shuttles exist and Chapel Hill has a nice transit system 'in town', traveling from town to town or to the airport or bus stations is not nearly as efficient as mid-atlantic area <especially if="" you="" live="" along="" the="" i-95="" corridor="" or="" va="" dc="" md="">. Guess you're too young to rent a car or won't have adults with you? UNC Admissions office may also have some good suggestions.</especially>

how old do you have to be to rent a car? 21?

25 i think.

I believe you can rent a car under 25. At least a few years ago, my son rented one while still in college--would have been 21 or 22, and my daughter rented one last year at 22 (these were in NC).
