Travel From Baltimore to Boston at Hopkins

I was wondering if any current students could tell me if there are any weekend shuttles or student discount for trains to visit Boston from Hopkins? If not, what are close by cities can you travel to?

Boston is pretty far. The close by city would be Washington DC (about an $8 train ticket) and you can also easily go to New York (~$25 bus ticket)

I’ve found that the most economical and reasonably fast way to travel between Boston and Baltimore is via Southwest Airlines to Providence. Southwest has about 14 daily direct flights between BWI and PVD. You can then take a commuter train from PVD direct to South Station (the Amtrak station) in Boston.

I go to Hopkins and I’m from New England. I usually fly Southwest to Logan because it’s the cheapest, and, surprisingly, flying is usually cheaper than taking Amtrak. Buses might be less expensive (?), but it’s a wicked long ride and personally I don’t think it’s worth it, aha. The flight’s only about an hour and while I have gone home for weekends, I’d say it’d be too much of a hassle unless you’re doing something important or desperately want to visit.

However, New York is a bit closer, and I know a lot of kids will take the train there for the weekend!
DC is great for day trips- on weekdays, you can take the MARC train there for only like seven dollars. It’s also close enough to drive relatively easily if you get a zipcar or something.
