Trial Lesson repertoire.

My daughter is about to head out to visit schools and take trial lessons. She is debating what she should play at her trial lessons (piano).

Should she play her most polished pieces, a piece in progress or a new piece (she knows the notes but has not yet worked on interpretation). Any input would be appreciated

I’d recommend the most polished piece. A new teacher will always have a new take on whatever she plays, and if the piece is very familiar to her she will have an easier time taking adjustments–because she will not be struggling with it. The potential teacher will want to see how flexible she is and how well/quickly she responds to suggestions. A piece she knows very well will help her feel more at ease (and will show off her technique at its best.)
