<p>Assuming the angles on the left/right vertices are right angles, for sake of clarity, let A be the left vertex, B be the right one (with AB = 30km), and CD be an altitude if triangle ABC.</p>
<p>One way to proceed is as follows: note that AD = d tan 76, and DB = d tan 56. Then AD = d(tan 56 + tan 76) = 30, so d = 30/(tan 56 + tan 76).</p>
