My daughter got into Trinity College Dublin for European Studies, Class of 2020. She is from NJ in USA. Wondering if there there are any other accepted students going and where they are from and their major.
Congrats to your daughter! She should have a wonderful adventure. I’m not a current student but went to grad school & taught there, and thoroughly enjoyed both. I haven’t seen many TCD (or Irish) students on CC, but there should be a fb group that your daughter can join. One hint: don’t overpack! Irish students live very simply. Another hint: if she wears leather shoes get new plastic soles put on (wet feet are cold feet). Final hint: accept that she will drink, starting about 12 hours after she arrives (or you leave…), and the people that she will be drinking with are nearly all experienced drinkers (most will have been drinking since 15 or 16, nearly all by 17). Remind her to never, ever drink a punch and to keep an eye on her drink. Cider (hard) might be her friend- cheap, relatively low alcohol, available everywhere. Oh- and for phone, if she has an iPhone she can just get an Irish SIM card on a pay-as-you-go basis- it is much easier than in the US- then just switch SIM cards for whichever country she’s in.
