Looking forward to hearing this week about son’s EA I application! Anyone else heard anything yet? I assume ED I’s have received notification by now.
Waiting eagerly here for EA I. Good luck, all!
Son applied EA I for CS. We are also hoping to hear some good news!
If you get EAI results, please post back on this thread together with your stats! Big help for the applicants still waiting anxiously for future rounds!
Waiting here for EA as well.
Waiting here, too! EA
My counselor pulled me out of class today to tell me that I got into Trinity. EA applicant in Houston, Texas
Congratulations @HoustonStrong17 !!
@HoustonStrong17 , how does your counselor know it before the results are released?
Counselors and admission officers have backchannel communication going on @bogeyorpar. Some counselors have close relationships with certain colleges. I personally don’t find it very professional for a counselor to disclose preliminary information to students. And definitely not to pull students out of their class…
@HoustonStrong17 , I think it’s nice that your counselor cares enough to want to give you the good news personally. Congratulations!
@bogeyorpar ,
Did we ever get an answer on this? I thought Murchison recipients were all invited for Tower competition, but I certainly am not sure about that. The verbiage on their site seems to indicate that is the case:
“Murchison Scholars and other top applicants will be invited to compete for a full-tuition scholarship at the Trinity Tower Scholars Day competition.”
@DavidPuddy , that’s certainly how I interpreted it … but need to see proof by actual award letter.
Also, is the Murchison scholarship automatic if you meet the selection criteria listed on the web site?
“Murchison Scholarship
4.0 and 1410 SAT or 30 ACT
3.85 and 1530 SAT or 33 ACT”
Will my son receive the award letter on Friday with our acceptance? I am hoping all Murchison Scholarship winners will be invited to Trinity Towers Scholars Day. However, from the feedback, it’s hard to know what they are looking for in a candidate. My son has a 35 ACT, so I would assume he would be invited, but I will not take anything for granted until he has the invitation in his hand.
@bogeyorpar and @DisneyMom99
It is important to note that the Trinity scholarships use a recalculated and unweighted core GPA:
**“Core GPAs are recalculated on an unweighted 4.0 scale using the student’s core academic courses (English, math, science, social science, and foreign language) completed in high school.” **
I think it is fairly “automatic” without explicitly saying so. But, any time there is recalculation and interpretation (What’s science, is the engineering class? etc) you should be careful about considering it automatic.
Do we know how Trinity notifies students of admission decisions? Email, mail, application status portal?
Last year it was an email, followed by snail mail.
Edit: Well, I thought I’d read that on last year’s acceptance thread, but now I can’t find it. So, I’m not sure.
@WilliamNYC you don’t find it very professional for a counseler to pull a kid out of class to share great news about a college admission? Because it’s not fair to everyone else? I think it’s awesome that the counselor cares enough to do that I highly doubt they are sworn to secrecy.
I truly appreciate all of the feedback. I am hoping all of the families on this thread receive fantastic news and are accepted to Trinity University. Blessings and good luck to everyone!
:-" Will today be the big day?
