Which is best- Trinity, Horace Mann, or Chapin????

hm (10 char)

CHAPINNNNNNNNNNNNNN

that is all.

My son was accepted to Trinity and absolutely loved it on revisit days. He also has three friends at HM and only 1 is truly happy there. That being said they are 3 great school with different personalities. If you haven’t done the revisit days I would strongly suggest that you take advantage of them.

My son is a junior at Trinity (currently taking the SAT so I’m here nervously trying to pass the time until he’s back). He has been very happy with the school - many really terrific teachers, good friends and heavily involved in EC’s. He entered in ninth grade and they did a very good job of integrating the “new” kids into the school quickly. He also had the choice between Trinity and Horace Mann, and liked both on revisit days - chose Trinity in part because of geographic proximity (about a 15 minute walk from where we live), in part because one of his good friends from his elementary school decided to attend as well, and in part because he just liked the feel. It felt a little more like a community and a little less stressed out (though junior year at Trinity - or any of the NY private schools - is far from stress free). Horace Mann is bigger and has more resources and I’m sure my son would have been happy there too, but Trinity has been everything we could have asked for. Don’t know much about Chapin - but the ss experience is obviously a contrast to Trinity and Horace Mann.

Horace Mann is definately the best. The best college placement, the nicest campus, the smartest kids. Also, whenever you say i go to horace mann someones says “WOW you must be REALLY smart!”

are you comfortable with an idea of a fairly small, single gender school ? do you think you would fit in socially at Chapin ?
how important are varsity athletics to you ? Trinity is great in that respect.
what are you expecting from your faculty ? all three schools have fantastic teachers, but if you are a scholar at heart and really want to get to the root of things, you may want to consider HM
music/theater/dance ? again, all three schools will provide these, but the facilities and general organization seem better at HM.
Finally, if you don’t want to get too stressed out… well, all three schools are very demanding academically, but somehow the folks at Trinity look like they know how to relax once in a while :)

HM actually has the best athletics out of all of them
due to the fact that they have their own fields and such
soccer (both genders) is great
Tennis (both genders) is great
squash is good
lax and football are both terrible on the boys side
girls basketball is good boys is terrible

etc

Well, if I were a teenage boy, I would probably love Chapin, but seriously, they are all good schools. I attended Collegiate, so I liked Chapin but didn’t care too much for Trinity or Horace Mann; however, I now appreciate them more.
Figure out what it is you are looking for in terms of the education you want and whether or not any of these schools will provide for you. Also, consider what you want to do for college and determine which of these schools might be able to achieve these objectives.

Dear nynyparent, My son has just been accepted by both Horace Mann and Trinity. I am trying to collect as much information as possibility to help him make his decision. I am wondering how you felt about the college placement process at Trinity?? I heard some concerns that some NYC private schools may force (or “strongly suggest”) a student to give up on certain top tier colleges. How has your son’s experience been at Trinity? Thanks!

Chaapinn :)

My daughter has been accepted at Trinity, Chapin, and HM. Still deciding. Likes Chapin the best> Is it a lightweight school?
