<p>You haven't asked any questions. You've just given us a huge list of stats and ECs, but I'm guessing you want us to predict your chances of getting accepted to Rice. Quite frankly, I think that a lot of us on this website have "what are my chances" fatigue. We don't know if you will be accepted or not accepted. As to your chances - search the Rice website, and you will see some statistics about admittances. Good luck, best wishes for your college applications, and have a nice senior year.</p>

<p>I agree with anxiousmom. You really need to condense all of that info if you want people to look at it. I mean, I really don't care that you got an 83.3% in Social Studies in grade 9 or that you are a member of the Ubuntu Linux India Team... do you know what I mean? Sorry if that sounds rude, but if I'm taking the time to give you my opinion on your "chances", I'd rather read something like [thread=366334]this[/thread] than your post. Plus, as anxiousmom said, you didn't even ask any questions. </p>

<p>Okay. That said: Grading systems in other countries are different than the US grading system, so I'm not really sure about those grades. But, you are ranked first, so obviously they're good. Your extracurriculars and awards look good, at least in quantity. If you score as well on the real SATs as you have on practice tests, you'll be fine. You don't have SAT Subject Tests, but Rice requires two. So you'll need to take those. Besides that, your stats and resume look great. As I've said in other "chances" threads, the only things left to do now: 1. show personality (through your supplemental essay, etc.); 2. write excellent essays (have a few people edit your essays... English teachers are the best); 3. show lots of interest (if possible: interviews, campus visits, contact with students/alumni).</p>

<p>If I were you, I would NOT list the website in your application - not with content like that! Glad to hear that those strips aren't yours. Perhaps you should remove the offending strips, and/or provide editorial guidelines so stuff like that is not included in your website?</p>

<p>I created those comics and I assure you 'anxiousmom' that they will not be removed. Internet is censorship-free (well, most people try to make it that way). You have no right to request the removal of anything that you do not own/control on the internet, so you are just wasting your breath.</p>

<p>You find the comics abhorrent, that's fine. Don't read them! No one is forcing you to read them. If you don't like them, keep it to yourself. Frankly, I don't care about your opinion, and I don't think I will stomp on my rights to free-speech just because you don't have a sense of humour.</p>

<p>Those comics aren't Ajay's, they are mine. He has nothing to do with them, or has contributed to my comics in any way whatsoever. I guess there's no problem there.</p>

<p>I can't believe you said that. I am planning to apply to Ivy-League colleges, and hopefully I will get into one of them. My humour will still stay twisted, and it doesn't affect my academic performance. So, the sentence you have written makes no sense. If we are to stop allowing students to get into college because of their taste, or jokes they like to make, what's next? Should we start discriminating by race?</p>

<p>anxiousmom, your post made sure that those comics don't get removed. I coded, designed and hosted the site and I'll make sure that those comics stay there. I'll definitely list it on my college app because I count on admissions officers to have a sense of humor or at least respect other people's work if they don't. if you don't like the comic don't read it and stop telling people to destroy their work because someone might actually do it ;)</p>

<p>Well, I honestly agree with anxiousmom on this one. The jokes are funny to you, I understand that, but it would be a mistake to mention the site on your application. I doubt any adcom would find making fun of a cripple funny!</p>

<p>I am a recruiter in the IT field. I often find that young graduates find that most new employers Google their name and will decide on hiring the person based on what they find, besides application etc. Anxiousmom and I, being adults, have a far different perspective than you do. She was trying to do you all a favor. Anyone is entitled to put anything up on the web that you want, however anything put up can and will be used in your future to perhaps decide your fate, for lots of things, including employment. You may feel very brazen now, but tomorrow, when you're going for your first job, you may want to moderate your persona to fit in with corporations. Unless you plan on starting your own firm and never looking for anyone else to hire you, I would try to show your best side to the universe out there. Things written on Facebook have come back and hurt people going for jobs, this may, too. I would imagine when a college looks to admit people they want people who will get along with everyone, especially at Rice, where they are known for their diversity and acceptance of others. You really must think forward and understand the ramifications of everything you're doing today.</p>

My sense of humor might be messed up, but you can't say that you don't find south park funny. I actually do plan to start my own firm and I seriously doubt that something like this would have any impact later ;)</p>

<p>Anxiousmom has been on this site WAY longer than you have. She has offered much more advice, insightful, and more informative posts than a lot of the people on this site. The truth is that you have simply not been on this forum long enough to really know anything about it. All you need to do is look at her post history to see how credible she is. Just because she does not agree with your sense of humor (everyone has a right to their opinion), does not make her any less credible. She has a right to free speech, just like you do. By the way, if you had even done your research on her, you would know that she is a MOTHER OF A SON WHO IS GOING TO BE A FRESHMAN AT RICE. </p>

<p>You say that you don't care about what she says, but I find it kind of funny that you would actually go through all this trouble to find out some information about her a week after her post.</p>

<p>I'd have to agree with the posters who advised you not to include a mention of your comic site in your application. While there's nothing wrong with having an appreciation for black comedy, nothing on that site, at least from my perspective, adds anything to the image of your academic abilities. True, Rice, along with most selective colleges, tries to get an appreciation of the overall candidate and I'd advise you to share things with them that you feel display your passions in life, some things are best left out of the application. Unless of course making fun of crippled people is a major passion in life, in which case I'd advise lying.</p>

<p>we found out about that post today, so we didn't respon earlier. 2 clicks can hardly be called trouble. why do you take this stuff so seriously? do you really think that people who make action movies go around shooting people? anyway, I don't mind her sense of humor, but I do mind her saying "I hope that you did not create those comics, and if you did, I sincerely hope that you do not attend Rice University." is that behaviour of a tolerant person? She could've said that she doesn't like it or that it's really bad and noone would mind.
btw if any one of you wonders why am I still posting here, it's because I usually don't work during summer break.</p>

<p>I say go ahead and put it on your application. Heck, why not even put one of those comics in The Box (on the Rice app)? If that's truly who you are and what you stand for, let Rice judge you by that. It may hurt your app, but if so, at least you'll know that Rice isn't for you.</p>
