Anyone heard about the new 60 - 80% of freshman being tripled in their dorm rooms? Anyone volunteer for this?

I’ve heard, due to rapid growth and increased demand, that there’s a housing shortage for sophs & juniors (Seniors, with the exception of honors/scholarship students with guaranteed housing, have long been on their own). I wouldn’t be surprised at a trickle-down effect.

I’ve also heard that the Triad apartments, in the past a 4-student sophomore suite, might also be used for freshmen. But I have no firsthand knowledge of that.

What I do know from firsthand experience is that triples have already existed in some dorms. And that Rowan students typically don’t spend nearly as much time in the dorms as what parents and prospective new students think. It’s not a go-to-class/hang in the dorm room kind of place. It’s a go out and do something place. Dorm rooms are a place to sleep and store your clothes, and not much else.

Just went to Freshman Orientation with my daughter. The incoming Freshman class is so big that the college is aggressively asking for volunteers to triple. If they do not have enough volunteers then they will triple as needed until they can accomodate the incoming class. They are quoting 80% of incoming Freshman will be tripled.
