Trojan chances!?

thanks

don't know
i think the fact that you're hispanic will help you
but i had similar, if not better, stats and i was rejected

about school type: they rank it in the top 1%

Everything looks great in my opinion. Being Latino is great (I'm one too!) It's so wierd. We have almost exact stats except my SAT is a little lower. I'm from California and I even took the same freakin subject tests. Well I think you're good to go for next year. Keep doing what you're doing. Good Luck! :)

You guys can't seriously be suggesting that being Latino gives you an edge over kids with 4.0's that are "other" ethnicities. Affirmative action is a no-no.

I'm a minority as well but have worked my bum off to keep high grades and I find that type of suggestion offensive and demeaning to many minority students who do have the 4.0's etc.,

Anyway GSW fan, I guess it all depends on the overall quality of your application, if your recs are glowing, your SATs great and so forth, then you may have a decent chance there.
:)

u got a great shot. especially since u are URM.

Nobody said that he is guaranteed admittance just because he is hispanic. We just said that it is a great thing and that does help out a bit. We weren't saying that he has a great shot just because he is hispanic, we said it because he is a good student.

It really just depends on the competitive-ness of the major/school. Which the OP didn't even mention.

If it's something like SCA then your WRITING abilities will weight in a lot in the decision.

i said he had a great shot even without being URM and then being URM also helps

all your stats look great so the one thing i would focus on is your essay. MAKE IT GOOD because there are thousands of kids applying who have the stats just like you and many better who the reviewers have to look at so you NEED something that will make YOUR numbers mean something different. There are so many smart people out there but what counts to USC is what makes you unique. Trust me their applicant pool is incredible and if they chose any of the people out of it they would have a top university anyway so what you need to do is have an outstanding UNIQUE essay. Sorry, but i cant stress this enough, that is the ONLY reason I got in. I'm caucasian, and I had 2000 SAT's, 29 ACT, 4.2 weighted GPA (top public school in CA), varsity tennis 4 years, some awards and honors here and there but nothing outstanding--except for my essay. Just make sure you give USC a reason to accept you over other people!
good luck!

to stress this more..I didn't take any AP tests (I took 2 AP's in all of HS and 3 honors classes TOTAL)

I suggest trying your best to get a 4.0 before being weighted for your first semester senior year. Look at your schedule for this fall. Are your classes challenging but still o.k. that you think you will get a 4.0 (or close to it)?
