Hello all:

I've been searching around the Tampa, FL area for a good masters program in international relations. The only programs that may meet my requirement are found further north in Florida State and University of Fl, south in Miami's Florida International University, and in Orlando's University of Central Florida which has a Poli Sci program with an international relations concentration. In my search, I came across an IR program offered by Troy University. If you don't know, Troy is based out of Alabama but has satellite schools around the US and the world. Troy's program is appealing due to the proximity, as well as the reputation of the school back in Alabama, yet I don't know if the same can be said about the programs offered at its satellite schools. Ultimately, my decision to pursue admission there will be based on the program's quality. I've looked at the curriculum but I'd like to know more about it from someone that's either taken it or really looked into it. So far, I haven't found anyone that isn't Troy staff that can talk to me about its rigor or reputation. Is this a red flag?

To give you some background, I'm in the military and will be separating in the next year or so. I would prefer not to move to another city to attend graduate school, especially since I will probably be moving again once I finish the program. Is Troy's program in Tampa Bay worth it, or should I bother with the move and pursue a better option?

Any information you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Respectfully,
Frank
