If anyone has any advice, I would appreciate it.

Last year I applied to five different summer programs, all pretty selective I guess, and I was only accepted to one?

This year I want to attend a summer program again, but I don't know if I should apply to less selective programs (not MITES, or Clark Scholars) so that I have a better chance of getting in? I don't want to work really hard on apps, just to get denied and have nowhere to go?

Which programs did you apply to last year and which one did you get accepted to?

Also, the only “crapshoot” program i can think of is RSI. Programs such as TASP really accept the people who take the time to put in the most effort into their applications; or show the most interest. If you’re concerned about being denied, don’t be, the worst they can say is, “No.”

One thing i will advise, though, is that you shouldn’t just randomly apply to all the most prestigious programs. Doing so will make all your applications equally weak because you won’t have enough time to spend on just one application, putting everything you got into it.

Hope that helps.

I applied to TASS, Texas Mathworks, SAMS, SSI, and HSHSP at Michigan. And I got into Texas Mathworks…
The worst they could say is no, but that is my dilemna. Apply to one , at the risk of a no, or spread my self out (maybe too thinly), and risk all nos? Either way I may end up not getting in anywhere
