intended major:

(want to be a physician)

Where I applied:
Cal Poly
CSU Chico
San Diego State University
Long Beach State University
UC Irvine
UC Mercedes
UC Riverside
UC Santa Cruz

ps: I am torn on whether I should apply to University of Michigan because I know it is a very big reach, but it is my dream school. But I don’t want to spend $75 on a rejection letter.

CSU’s except Cal Poly SLO use an Eligibility index to rank applicants.
(CSU GPA x800) + (SAT Math + CR). Your EI calculates out to 3930.

For SDSU you want around a 4100+ EI to be competitive so a Reach school.

For CSULB you want around a 3900+ EI to be competitive but they also use a STEM Eligibility index so your STEM EI for CSULB is 3790. (CSU GPA x600) + CR + (SAT Math x2) so more emphasis on Math score.

I would say CSULB is a High Match school but if local than a Match school.

Cal Poly Pomona is a Match school but SLO is a Reach school.
SLO uses 9-11th grades not just 10-11th grades. Your GPA and test scores are below average for the College of Math and Science. Average GPA is 4.09 and SAT is 1356.

Chico State is a Match school.

For UC’s, your GPA is below average for all on your list. UC’s are very GPA focused and your test scores are also on the low side.

Historical UC GPA for Freshman: 3.40-3.79
UCI: 16%
UCSC: 47%
UCR: 64%
UCM: 80%

UCM is a solid Match
UCR is a Match
UCSC is a HIgh Match-Low Reach.

You need some safety schools so I would add 2 more CSU’s just to make sure: Sac State, SFSU, CSU Fullerton perhaps.

Good Luck.

Thank you, this really helped!! I think i will apply to more safety schools
