I am stressing a lot about getting into BYU Provo. I have a 3.64 unweighted GPA, 28 ACT, 3 AP classes, varsity athletics with various other extra curriculars, I am a seminary graduate, I have 100 hours of community service, was employed during high school, held numerous church leadership positions. Can someone tell me if my chances are good?

I’d say your chances are pretty good, you’re definitely very competitive. GPA is a tad on the low end but I think you’ll get in.

I’m a current student there.

It is SO easy to get into BYU - I had a really low GPA and my family once held weight with the college but was no longer involved so i didn’t have any extra “helps” that some kids in my situation do.
People who go to the Y want to seem like it’s exclusive but it’s not at all. There is only one thing you have to prepare for - the classes, once you are accepted. I couldn’t work even pay time when I had a full work load. It’s impossible to get good grades if you do.
The trick is - if you are denied with your regular application, reapply for night school.you will be accepted because it’s open to anyone who wants to attend. The limitation is you can only take 8.5 credits. The coast is the same. Independent study is different - this strategy really involves being on campus for classes. The night classes start at 4pm. Then after 1 semester reapply to day school. The imperative thing is to have one or two byu professors give you a letter of recommendation & your bishop (of course). Also I had a 4.0gpa from my 1st semester - all I did was study my butt off that semester - I didn’t have a boyfriend and didn’t hang out with my friends but i got in.
If you put in the work and let admissions know you’re serious about attending day school, they’ll let you in. I graduated with a 3.5ish GPA mostly because I had to work the last couple years to afford life.
Also - from some friends in admissions. …I also learned that there is never a guarantee of getting in with grades and scores - they pray about every student they let in. Mine weren’t that good to begin with but my SAT & ACT scores were really high…im smart but i don’t (didn’t) like the conformity of school (I always did well on tests but rarely if ever turned in homework in high school) so my grades suffered. Even with prayer I didn’t make it in until I could prove that I was willing to buckle down and do everything that was asked of me by my professors.
Just don’t take a denial (if you get it)as the way things are "supposed"to be. If you really want to go to school there you can make it happen - it’s up to you.
Ps. I got a lot of elitest comments from other classmates when they heard how i got in.just because someone is at the Y doesn’t mean they’re amazing people. A good number of them aren’t worth the time to be friends with. With that said I met some of my best friends there…hope you have a great time!
PS sorry - swipe texting doesn’t always write what I wanted let me know if you’re confused! lol
