I was suspended for 1 semester for a disciplinary issue and am under probation at the moment.
Do I have to disclose this to the university I wish to transfer to? If so what will they see on my transcript? I have a high GPA, 3.55 on a 4.0 scale, form a top 40 school. Just think I need a fresh start. Any advice would be great. Thanks
Take a look at your school’s policies. I googled “University XXXXX suspension transcript” and was able to find some information on if my suspensions showed up on my transcript or not.
From my research, it seems like most universities do show suspension on the transcript. I actually went to a top school and have transferred to a local university for a fresh start, but I transferred before I was placed under suspension. Just make sure you don’t fall back in the bad habits.
Some colleges require you to be in ‘good standing’ with your current university in order to be admitted as a transfer. If you can, check an unofficial version of your transcript and see if it says you are on probation.
Generally though, there will be a place on the transfer application that will ask you whether you are or have been disciplined by your current college and why. Not putting this information could get you rejected.
