I'm trying to transfer into to Ivies(Columbia especially) but I'm not quite sure about what the colleges want to see/ put emphasis on when it comes to transfer admission.

My high school grades were decent, but they weren't stellar. I'm planning on retaking my SAT's again and my college grades should be really good. Are EC's important even when it comes to transfer admission? If so, what kind of EC's do people do in college?

I don’t think you can transfer as a freshman…you’ll need at least one year done at a uni to be considered a transfer, for most colleges (and, probably ivies). Check the transfer admission requirements.

If you didn’t have a good high school career, you’ll need to spend more time at a college in order to take weight off your highschool career (IE, one year transfers, generally more weight is put on your high school transcript, whereas at two years, the weight goes to your college transcript). So, witht hat said, I’d recommend two years…

Again, the ivies are one huge crapshot, especially for transfer admission. Cornell is the only particularly-friendly transfer school. And, in college, people do ECs that they like, because generally it’s assumed that they’ve become responsible, mature, and thoughtful young people, and do what they enjoy, or what they believe in. I hope the same is true of you…

What don’t you like about your current school?

@cloakandstagger sorry it was late at night and I was a bit sleepy. I meant to say that I want to apply during my freshman year in college(thus entering as a transfer student in fall 2012 if I’m accepted).

It’s not that I hate my current school or anything but since I’m attending my last choice school(yeah things didn’t work out for me) I’d just like to get another shot at this.
